Wondering how to protect and care for your awning?

Here are some useful tips and best practices on how to care for your awning.

• Do keep your awning clean to prevent mildew from growing on accumulated dirt which will eventually stain the fabric.
• Do wash your awnings; use a soft brush to brush off the excess dirt, you can also use a mild soap BUT, only use cold or lukewarm water.
• Do hose your awnings on occasion, at least once a month, you should hose your awning down, preferably on a sunny day to allow the awning to air dry in the sun. Check the awning's frame for rust which can cause deterioration or it could stain the fabric.
• Don't fold or roll up your awning in extreme cold temperatures.
• Don't braai under your awning, the smoke can stain the fabric.
• If possible don't store the awnings while they are damp. If you have to roll up the awning while it is damp, remember to roll it out as soon as possible to allow the awning to air dry to avoid mould and mildew from forming.
• Don't leave tears or rips unattended to, these can become more problematic in the future, attend to them early to avoid higher costs of repair later on.
